I have always been fascinated and
interested in these colorful wires and have wondered why more artists
are not working with this material. I see my work pushing the material
in new directions. I now make circles, shapes and wall hangings with
them. I never thought this hard material would move as they do. It is
a wonder to me. These sculptures are personal and intuitive. They are
always loosely preplanned but never resolve into my original idea. And
this, to me, is the wonder of it all. As they take shape, and a
variety of materials and colors are used, I am always excited and
amazed what I have succeeded in creating. Some of my sculptures have
worlds inside their forms and some do not, but it is very interesting
to me what the future in this material will push me to do. I use many
different materials…whatever the forms call for at the time…I have
used buttons, rubber, paint, metal and plastic. I am curious myself to
see what journey this process of weaving will take me to.
